As a little boy, my son was asked why he needed to be so loud. His response was, “Sometimes I just have to let the happy out.” Do you know a kid like that? You should probably get them ELECTRIC.

I grew up entertaining due to being born into this crazy family that had a TV show back in the 60's and 70's. Click on this link to watch vintage clips of their TV show, see me cook my way through the King Family cookbook, and hear some of my favorite life lessons, stories and musings.
My very first job was as an apprentice in a custom leather shop. I learned to tool, stain, and clean leather (We did a bunch of leatherwork for the film TOMBSTONE). A few years ago, after an awful breakup, I was feeling pretty small. In the middle of a cry-fest, I pulled out my leather tools and hurriedly stamped the word "POWERFUL" onto a scrap leather cuff I had sitting in the drawer. It wasn't beautiful, or colorful, (the letters weren't even straight) but I needed something to remind myself that I was POWERFUL. Every time I looked down at my wrist while typing on my computer keyboard or while holding onto the steering wheel of my car, I saw that word. I ran my fingertips along the stamped leather cuff like I was reading Braille and reminded myself, "You are Powerful".
Sometimes all it takes is one word to inspire, to heal, to get us on the right path (or 3 words if you stack them on your wrist like I do :)
These shirts also embody my philosophy that sometimes...all it takes is one word to inspire, to heal, and to remind us of who we are.
